Ski touring and skiing off-piste have during the last years become more and more popular in Norway and in other ski destinations. If you move out of the prepared tracks or in steep terrain, it is important to know about the risk of avalanches.

During this introduction course we focus on:
We provide avalanche beacon, probe and shovel from us, but if you have your own – we strongly recommend bringing. There are small differences between them, so it is important for you to be comfortable with the one you are going to use on your future tours.
Please note that this course does not give you official certification, but is a 4-hour introduction to this subject.

10 am. Meet your instructor and fellow course participants outside the ski rental of Røldal Skisenter.
It is winter, we are in Norway and out in the snow for 4-5 hours. Please dress accordingly. During the course we will not be moving a great deal so make sure you will be warm enough while standing outside. For sunny days, be aware that we will be exposed for several hours.
