This is your chance to be up in the mountains when the sun plays the most spectacular light games – at sunset and sunrise! Trolltunga Active has chosen the spot thoroughly, so our base camp is located at a good distance from the main trail. The spacious dome tent surprises you with its comfortable facilities and see-through ceiling. Only here you can enjoy a dinner with such a view while listening to sounds of the Norwegian nature.

We meet at Trolltunga Active Base and get prepared for the awaiting adventure. There is no need to hurry as this tour is about having “all the time in the world” to enjoy the vast landscape – numerous mountain lakes, steep rock faces of the valley Ringedalen and Folgefonna glacier in the distance. On our way to Trolltunga, we stop by the camp and enjoy a cup of hot/cold beverages before we hike the last stretch to the famous “Rockstar”. We arrive to Trolltunga when most visitors are heading down already and have time to enjoy the special view spot more in quiet.
Even though The Norwegian summer days feel almost endless, you cannot wait to go back to the dome where a delicious dinner is waiting for you. Together with your guide and your fellow travellers you spent a night in the Heart of the Norwegian mountains. It is up to you if you choose to enjoy conversations with each other, play games, read Norwegian stories or just observe the colours of evening skies.
After a good night's sleep in the dome, you wake up to a new morning – with glimpses of sun or with rolling clouds, each has a special magic in it. You can take second visit to Trolltunga, while your guide prepares the breakfast in the tent. OR you can sleep in and wake up to the smell of the fresh brewed coffee. After enjoying breakfast, we pack our stuff together and start the hike back to the civilisation. Normal time to be back at the starting point is between 14pm and 15pm the second day.

Even though you are visiting Norway in the summer, be aware that the weather conditions are highly unpredictable. They can change from minute to minute. Temperature can be deceiving as the wind plays an important role in how cold it feels. You might start your hike with summer temperatures in the valley and hike up the mountains where there are still big patches of snow. On rainy days low temperatures and cold winds can make the hike quite challenging, even in summer. On a beautiful day sunny day, you need to keep in mind, that you are very exposed on the mountain, make sure you prepare for hours out in the sun and stay hydrated.
A general thumb rule is: check the weather forecast, prepare for the worst conditions but do not overload your backpack, weight matters greatly when it’s about saving energy. Use the onion look: layers that can easily be taken on and off.
We do not cancel tours due to bad weather. The only times we cancel is when the bad weather becomes dangerous weather. We will inform you in case of cancellation. Please read our cancellation policies for more information.
If rain and low temperatures are forecasted bring also:
Please make sure to leave enough space in your backpack for a sleeping bag liner and your dinner.
You can rent certain pieces of equipment on site: rain pants and jackets, hiking boots, backpacks.
