Norwegian fjords are said to be Europe’s best areas for kayaking. From the cockpit of your kayak, you see the snowy capped tops of the Folgefonna glacier, the green hills and the deep waters of Sørfjorden with new eyes. The steep mountain sides will make you feel so small.
The tour starts with an introduction to the equipment, safety brief, adjusting the kayaks and basic paddle technique to make you comfortable before we launch the kayaks to the fjord. To explore the fjord in all its beauty, we begin to paddle from the white sandy beach at Ullensvang Hotel. Soon enough, you get a unique view of “the main fruit garden in Norway”: the village Lofthus. You will gaze at the small fruit farms which lay side by side. Can you spot the cherries, plums, apples and pears?
When you need to stretch your legs, your guide will take you to a beach, a boathouse or another splendid spot for lunch. While you paddle you will learn more about the orchards, the history of Lofthus and the national parks around. Kayaking can be quite an unwinding experience with light wind, but also be prepared for some more exercise in case small waves appear. Do not worry, your guide is always there to help!
Are you travelling off-season and want an out of the ordinary experience? Join us for a tour in the snowy, frozen landscape in a Norwegian fjord. Here you get to witness the winter wonders of Norway. Remember to wear warm clothes! Please note that there is a price difference between winter and summer kayak tours.

Rain is not a problem when it comes to the kayak-tours, kayaking is actually the perfect activity to do in the rain. It is mainly wind and waves that are giving us restrictions for this tour, but it also depends on what direction they are coming from. We will let you know as soon as possible if we must cancel the tour due to weather conditions.
If we cancel due to weather you can choose to join another day, another activity or get a full refund. If it is too wavy for the kayak it means it is even more fun for the rib-boat!
