About the activity

The RIB is an abbreviation for “rigid inflatable boat” and it is the fastest boat on this end of the Hardangerfjord. You can choose to start your RIB tour in downtown Odda or by Hotel Ullensvang in Lofthus. Once in the RIB, you lean back and enjoy the ride, jump the waves – if there are any – and feel the wind in your face. With a bit of luck, you might spot some porpoise whales or even one of the golden eagles nesting by the steep cliffs along the fjord.

This boat ride is simply the ideal way to learn a lot about the Trolltunga region in a short amount of time. Over two hours your skipper/guide takes you to some of the most interesting spots and attractions by the fjord and shares many fun facts and fascinating stories about the glacier, farming tradition, industrial heritage of the area and much more. Halfway into the tour you will take a little break in order to get a real taste of Norway by savouring the famous sparkling gold of Hardanger: the apple cider.

If you wish to take even longer tour with more insights and a real taste of the Hardanger food, we recommend looking into the RIB Boat Fjord Deluxe. It is also possible to book a one-way ticket, Odda-Lofthus/Lofthus-Odda.

Meet up

11am: Based on your preference you can meet your guide and travel companions:

  • by Tourist Information in the Odda city centre OR
  • by the pier in the garden of Hotel Ullensvang in Lofthus (you need to walk through the hotel to get there – please ask at reception if in doubt)

We recommend being at the meeting point 10 minutes before the official meeting time. Please use the bathroom before the tour.

Weather

The RIB Boat Fjord Tour is one of the activities where weather does not matter. We run the tour in all weather conditions and every type of weather has its’ moments of beauty. Of course, we will adapt our driving style to the wind, rain and wave conditions.

You should adapt your clothing according to these conditions. Even though the floatation suits keep you nice and warm, be aware that you do not move much, and the wind will cool you down quite a bit.

Nevertheless, the RIB Boat Fjord Safari is the perfect bad weather alternative and always an experience.

Depending on the weather conditions:
